“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” is as true in the horse as the human. It is noted that horses examined yearly are less likely to colic and more likely to live longer.

We offer Wellness Programs that bundle our recommended services into timely visits. These Wellness Programs provide you with certainty that your horse is conscientiously examined and given proper, timely treatments to prevent fatal diseases. Communication with you about weight, diet, hair coat, and conditioning are all part of our wellness exams.

Colorado Equine Clinic recommends the regimen below for protecting your horse from the common infections, diseases, and parasites that we see here on the Front Range of Colorado.

Spring Visit

(Feb – Apr)

  • Wellness Exam
  • Influenza + Rhinopneumonitis
  • EWT + West Nile Virus
  • Deworming*
  • Dental Exam

Fall Visit

(Aug – Sep)

  • Wellness Exam
  • Rabies
  • Influenza + Rhinopneumonitis
  • Fecal exam: parasites

Winter Visit

(Nov – Jan)

  • Wellness Exam
  • Dental float + sedation
  • Deworming*
  • Fecal exam: sand

Exceptions and/or additions to this core regimen need to be assessed by your horse’s particular situation. If you plan to travel with your horse, are planning to breed, have a new foal, or a recently imported horse, you will want to consult with a CEC veterinarian for other vaccinations or adaptations to the basic vaccinations.

*Deworming recommendations are made for each horse based on fecal exams and overall health. Consult your vet to determine which specific product is recommended for your horse at this time of year.

Vaccine Clinics

Colorado Equine Clinic offers bi-annual vaccine clinics that are designed to streamline the preventative medicine process. By grouping each stable’s vaccines together, rather than coming out separately for each individual client, we are able to reduce the travel fees and spend more time with each horse and owner. Contact our office for setting up a vaccine clinic at your barn.

Another option is our bi-annual Drive-Up Vaccine Clinic which takes place on a Saturday here at Colorado Equine Clinic. By bringing your horse(s) to us, we are able to provide significant discounts on the office fee and services. Look for the spring and fall dates in our emails and on Facebook.

If you have any questions about our services, please contact us today at (303) 791-4747.
